We built this firm because Africa's health challenges deserve better than generic consulting.
Platinum26 exists at the intersection of senior technical expertise, implementation experience and genuine commitment to improving healthcare quality and access in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Why Platinum26 exists
Too much consulting in the public health space produces work that impresses in a boardroom but fails in the field. Plans that cannot be implemented. Guidelines that nobody uses. Recommendations that ignore the operational reality of the systems they are meant to improve.
Platinum26 was built to do something different. To bring together the discipline of management consulting with deep public health knowledge and real-world experience of how African health systems, programmes, and institutions actually function. To stay in the room until the work is done. Also, to care — genuinely — about whether it makes a difference.
"A problem in Uganda is not necessarily the same problem as in South Africa. You have to think that through. A lot of people just come in and come out. I'm fully invested in the success of healthcare provision in Sub-Saharan Africa." — Dr Daniel Nhemachena
How we work
Platinum26 is intentionally structured as a boutique consultancy. We combine lead-consultant accountability with access to a trusted pool of senior associates and technical specialists, allowing us to assemble the right expertise for each assignment while maintaining direct senior oversight of quality, client engagement, and delivery timelines. This model helps us combine depth, relevance, and flexibility while maintaining the quality, discretion, and responsiveness our clients expect.
Diagnose
Every assignment begins with genuine understanding of the challenge, the context, the stakeholders, and the decisions that actually need to be made. We do not arrive with predetermined answers.
Design
We shape an approach that fits the assignment. Technically rigorous. Politically informed. Practically achievable within the constraints of real institutions and real budgets.
Deliver
We produce high-quality outputs, facilitate complex processes, support decision-making, and stay present until the work is complete and the client can move forward.
Strengthen
Where it matters, we help clients embed what has been built - creating tools, systems, and capacity that remain useful long after the engagement ends.
Leadership
Dr Daniel T. Nhemachena — Executive Director & Lead Consultant
Daniel is a medical doctor and public health specialist with more than 18 years of experience across health systems, policy, programme management, and healthcare management consulting in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He served as Head of Maternal Health at the Clinton Health Access Initiative — one of the world's most respected global health organisations — before founding Platinum26. That experience working inside governments and alongside international donors, under real accountability for real health outcomes, shapes everything Platinum26 does.
He has led assignments for Ministries of Health in Kenya, Cameroon, and South Africa, for provincial departments including Gauteng's Department of Health, for NGOs including mothers2mothers and the Aurum Institute, and for private-sector partners including Abbott Diagnostics. His particular strengths lie in strategy development, technical writing, stakeholder facilitation, and the difficult but essential work of translating policy into implementable action.
Daniel leads every Platinum26 assignment personally. Clients do not get handed to a team after the first meeting.
Dr Sam Rossolimos — Senior Advisor, Healthcare Strategy & Management
Sam brings 25 years of leadership across hospital development, healthcare strategy, and management advisory. A medical doctor with postgraduate qualifications in business management, accountancy, and healthcare administration, he has worked extensively in South Africa and the Middle East.
A founding member of Maddocs Healthcare — which developed 13 hospitals, 11 of which were listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange — Sam subsequently served as Healthcare Lead at both PwC and Accenture. He was a lead architect of South Africa's Diagnostic-Related Grouping reimbursement model for National Health Insurance. His presence gives Platinum26 unmatched depth in private healthcare infrastructure, hospital management, and health financing advisory.
Institutional strengths
Strategic depth
We shape strategies, frameworks, and plans that are technically sound, politically informed, and institutionally realistic. Not aspirational documents. Working tools.
Implementation realism
We understand programme operations, frontline constraints, and what it actually takes to make plans work in complex African environments. We have been there.
Stakeholder navigation
We are experienced in working across the interfaces between government, donors, NGOs, private partners, and multidisciplinary technical teams. Alignment across different actors is often where the real work happens.
Quality and responsiveness
Our boutique structure means direct senior oversight on every assignment, tailored engagement with every client, and the consistent delivery quality that comes from genuine accountability.
